The Biggest Small Birding Festival in the US
Over 270 registered participants enjoyed four days of guided birding, workshops, seminars, and birder camaraderie during the 2012 Tawas Point Birding Festival. While this attendance figure was a record for the festival, we anticipate only a modest-sized increase in the number of birders seeking to experience the world-class birding in Iosco County. In fact, we like to call the Tawas Point Birding Festival the “biggest small birding festival” in the country.
What to expect at TPBF ’13
Birders who attend this year’s festival can expect a bird count of close to 200 species. The species list for the 2012 festival weekend was very close to a new record, with approximately 175 species recorded by birders at sites throughout Iosco County. The festival features a comfortable balance of indoor and outdoor programs, allowing birders who wake before dawn to rest and continue learning from some of Michigan’s most knowledgeable conservation professionals. In addition, we’ve added several new programs for 2013 that will continue to highlight “the sunrise side” of Michigan as one of the top spring birding destinations in the Midwest.
